Gabapentin

  • Trade names: Gralise, Horizant, Neurontin
  • Gabapentin: is a medication used to treat certain types of seizures and nerve pain.
  • Common side effects include dizziness, drowsiness, and difficulty coordinating movements, depression, confusion
  • Considerations:
    • Take missed doses as soon as possible. Do not double dose
    • There is potential for dependence or withdrawal symptoms with long-term use 
    • Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult with their healthcare provider before using gabapentin, as it may pose risks to the fetus or infant.
    • Gabapentin may cause respiratory depression, if this occurs seek medical attention immediately 
    • Due to possible drowsiness and  dizziness cautions should be exercised if you are driving or operating machinery
