Naproxen

  • Trade names: Aleve, Anaprox, Maxidol, Naprelan
  • Naproxen is a medication used to relieve pain, reduce inflammation, and lower fever.
  • Common side effects may include stomach discomfort, nausea, headache, dizziness, constipation, drowsiness. Although rare, it can lead to heart failure or stroke. 
  • Considerations:
    • Take missed doses as soon as possible unless it is almost time for the next dose. Do not double dose.
    • Take it with food or milk to minimize stomach issues
    • Avoid alcohol, aspirin, and acetaminophen unless advised by health care professionals 
    • Pregnant women should avoid Naproxen, especially during the third trimester, as it can harm the unborn baby.
