Plan B

  • Trade names: Solia, Isibloom, Desogen-28, Enskyce 
  • Plan B is an emergency contraceptive pill that only prevents ovulation. It can prevent pregnancy if taken within 72 hours after unprotected sex or birth control failure.
  • Common side effects may include nausea, vomiting, fatigue, changes in menstrual cycle, depression, headache, hyperglycemia, rash
  • Considerations:
    • If single dose is missed take as soon as remembered 
    • Sudden discontinuation of medication may cause withdrawal bleeding
    • It does not protect against sexually transmitted infections.
    • It is not intended for regular birth control use.
    • It is available without a prescription for people of all ages.
    • It may be less effective for people with higher body weight.
    • It should not be used as a regular form of birth control.
    • It does not harm an existing pregnancy.
